Every other week the students visit a local retirement home.  They are paired up with a buddy who they read with during their visit.  It is a fantastic program, one that the students and buddies look forward to each time.  The students bring their latest reading assignment with them. They were noisy and the room still seemed slightly chaotic even though they were doing individual work.  The class is overwhelming at times because there are 27 kids in a very small space.
